With this seal, your fuel cap sits cleanly and tightly on the fuel tank again. The sealing ring is used on the fuel cap / filler cap and helps to ensure that the fuel stays where it belongs. If the sealing washer has become porous or hard, it is worth replacing it to prevent the smell of fuel and damp spots around the cap plug.
